Thorin Oakenshield fic part 10 MAY BE SPOILERS
Fili, Kili and I followed them to a cave that smelled awful. This was where the trolls stayed in the daylight.
Gandalf and Thorin led the way into the damp hole.
We followed, creeping behind bushes.
The smell was absolutely horrible. I didn't know how they could stand being in there.
We couldn't hear what was going on in there very well, but then we heard Thorin coming out.
"Bofur, Gloin, Nori!" He called as he reappeared in the entrance.
Kili and I ran back to the others.
I saw Gandalf appear last carrying something. He called to Bilbo.
I inched closer to hear what he was saying.
He pulled out a small blade. He handed it to Bilbo.
"I can't take this.." My cousin argued.
"The blade is of elvish make, which means it will glow blue when orcs are close." The wizard put the small sword in Bilbo'a hands.
"I have never handled a sword in my life."
"And I should hope you never have to. But if you do, remember this; true courage is not about not knowing when to take a life, but when to spare o
Thorin Oakenshield fic pt 9 MAY BE SPOILERSBofur handed everyone their food, I grabbed my bowl and went to sit against a wall, or at least what was left of it.
It was a clear night, the stars were so visible, you could see them for miles.
I was looking through a hole in the roof at said stars when I felt boards under me shift.
I looked up to see Thorin sitting down next to me.
"Oh." I said as he sat next to me with his dinner.
"You were all alone over here. I thought you'd want some company."
It was hard to hide the surprise on my face, but I recovered quickly.
"Well, thank you." I smiled at him.
He ate some of his stew, and I did the same.
Suddenly, Fili ran up to the house.
"Trolls....have.....Bilbo!!" He said between breaths.
"What?!" Thorin quickly stood up. "Where?"
Every one grabbed their weapons and followed Fili to the trolls.
I grabbed my sword from my saddle and began to follow them.
Gloin ran past me, then stopped, "Lass, trolls are a bit too much for ye. You stay here and watch the rest of the ponies. Make sure we d
Thorin Oakenshield fanfic pt 8 MAY BE SPOILERSOur ponies were exhausted.
We had run far and fast from the town.
I still had no idea why we ran away in such a hurry, but I had an idea that it had something to do with what I saw on the hill.
When we couldn't get the ponies to run anymore, we stopped.
We were in the wilderness. Under the cover of forest again.
Most of us had eaten at the tavern, so there wasn't a point to making a fire. Gandalf advised us to go right to sleep.
I was lying in between Kili and Bilbo.
Bilbo had fallen asleep very quickly.
I turned over to face Kili. He was lying on his back.
"Kili, are you awake?" I whispered.
He rolled over to face me.
"What do you need Scarlet?" He smiled a little.
I told him about what I'd seen. I still had no idea what it was.
He got a dark look on his face.
"Wargs. Or rather, orcs."
My eyes got big. Orcs? Following us?
"Don't you worry, Button." He grabbed my hand. "We will be safe. I know it."
My heart was still beating very fast. I'll be honest, I was scared. But I smiled at Kili
Thorin Oakenshield fanfic pt 7 MAY BE SPOILERSThe next day was the same as the last. Riding, and more riding.
My back-end was not happy with any of this.
I was riding next to Kili and Fili and Bilbo.
I haven't really gotten close to any of the others. We four were going to be very close.
"Master Gandalf," Dori called to the wizard. "we are low on food!"
"Not to worry Dori, there is a small town up ahead." Gandalf yelled back.
I smiled. We were going to get real food!
"Do you think there will be a pub there?" Fili asked his brother.
"I hope so! I could use a good pint of ale!" Kili laughed as he slapped his hand on Fili's shoulder.
I rolled my eyes and looked at Bilbo. He also had a look of relief on his face.
"We can get new clothes cousin!" I smiled at the thought of washing up a bit.
- - -
We rode for about a half hour before getting into the town.
It was very small. But large enough to buy food.
We tied the ponies and parted ways. The dwarves who usually did the cooking bought food. The rest bought some things that they alone n

The next day, we left the cave as we found it and continued our journey.
I'd have liked to have rested a bit longer, definitely to train more, but Thorin insisted that we move on.
I rode next to Bilbo.
"I can't believe you can handle a sword as well as you did." he smiled, still proud.
I shrugged. "I can't either, to be honest. I'm not sure what came over me. All of a sudden, for a split second, I felt stronger. Like I could take on anything."
I heard a laugh, and looked behind me, only to see Bofur smiling wide as he laughed.
"I can almost promise you that Thorin wasn't putting his all into it. I'm sure he didn't want to hurt a lass like you."
I rolled my eyes, and looked forward. Was he right? Suddenly, I didn't feel strong anymore.
Then, I began to feel like I needed to prove myself to him.
I yelled at Fili, who was near the front of the line, to ride next to me.
I explained my plan to keep training, and as I got better, fight the next toughest dwarf. Then, when I fought Th
